Laying down the backbeat for '56 Deluxe is Randy Omdahl, a student of the drums for the past 30 years. A transplant from the midwest, he blends jazz polyrhythms, funk, and rock beats into a cohesive rhythmic foundation to help define the band’s sound and drive the music forward. Influences like Mitch Mitchell, Ginger Baker, Roger Earl, and Ian Paice can be heard in his playing. “It’s all about the groove,” he says.
