Rocky "The Harp" Perryman

Harmonica, Vocals

It started the summer of 1966 when he was 12 years old. His brother Will had come back to Louisville, KY from a recording session in Nashville, TN.

Rocky ran out to the car and with all his enthusiasm asked Will if he had brought him a present.

Will shook Rocky's hand and said, "Good to see ya."

Rocky was too excited for small talk, he just wanted to know what Will had brought him.

Will turned to the trunk of a British Racing Green Corvette and pulled out a medium size gray suitcase.

As he dug through the suitcase Rocky could not help but think, maybe he forgot to bring me something.

Then all at once Will said here it is. And he flashed a Hohner Harmonica, a brand new Marine Band.

Rocky was so excited he could not stop jumping around.

It was then and there that Rocky's love affair with the harmonica began, and today...he is absolutely “One of the Very Best”...

Rocky has opened for or played with: Tab Benoit, Canned Heat, Bill Monroe, Bo Diddley, Beau Renfro, Bill Scroggs, Country Folk, Dickie Betts, Turley Richards, Sam Taylor, Rastus Kain and The Blame, Blind Dog Cooley, Hollywood Joe, Deacon Burnell, Brian and Coco Dean, Danny Abarr, 56 Deluxe and of course The Perryman Brothers -- Will, Richard and Ray Perryman.
